Bobby Cutts Jr., AKA DALAW150

(THIS ENTRY HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED AND CROSS-POSTED TO CRIMEBLOG.US, WHICH APPEARS TO BE UP AND RUNNING OKAY [but stay on your toes].)

Questions have swirled around the father of Jessie Marie Davis's children ever since her disappearance from her home just north of Canton, Ohio on June 13, 2007. Is Bobby Cutts Jr. an outstanding law enforcement officer and devoted father to his several children by at least 3 women, or is he a stone killer who decided to eliminate one girlfriend and the baby she had on the way, make his already over-active domestic life a little less complicated?

On the one hand, Cutts has done several things right since Jessie disappeared. He has participated in searches for Jessie, and he has appeared to be very patient with law enforcement making it clear that he is a suspect in Jessie's disappearance. Cutts has withstood assaults on the airwaves from crime pundits and ex girlfriends alike, not to mention all the suspicion voiced against him in blogs, on message boards, and in blog comments.

On the other, there are things like this available online -- DALAW150 (link broken, early a.m., 6/23/07 -- mirror).

It appears to be a profile for Bobby Cutts Jr. at Plentyoffish.com, a dating site. (NOTE: I made a mirror of the page here -- didn't render well, but you should get a good idea of what Cutts had up, if the original goes bye-bye.)

I don't know who originally discovered Bobby Cutts Jr.'s Plentyoffish.com profile (may have been on Nancy Grace's show on CNN HN), but I do know that commentator JJ posted it on the previous True Crime Blog post about Jessie Davis's disappearance half an hour ago. JJ's response to queries about where the link was found were not completely clear, so it may have first been posted to a message board. (Link goes to where I found it posted at Websleuths.com, by websleuther i.b. nora.)

It comes as no surprise that Cutts would have such a profile. He does after all appear to have children with at least 3 different women -- his wife, Kelly (Schaub) Cutts, model and actress Nikki Giavasis, and the missing woman, Jessie Davis.

And he is somewhat honest on the profile page as well -- he states that he is a cop, where he lives, and states that he is separated -- all facts out there about Cutts since Jessie Davis disappeared under strange and deeply troubling circumstances over a week ago. Cutts also says in his profile that he has children, but appears to say that he doesn't want anymore. Whether that is the Plentyoffish.com default profile setting as it is on MySpace or not, I do not know.

(NOTE ADDED LATER: The default setting for a Plentyoffish.com profile when the profile asks "Do you want children?" is Prefer Not to Say. One must choose the "Does not want children" answer. The thumbnail on the right shows the profile creation page as it looks with default settings intact.)

DALAW150's profile indicates that he's interested only in meeting a woman to "hang out," yet this is what he wrote under the heading "First Date":
I WOULD LIKE TO DO WHATEVER THE OTHER PERSON WOULD LIKE TO DO FOLLOWED BY DINNER AND POSSIBLE DRINKS. THE NIGHT COULD END THERE OR IT COULD LEAD TO A LONG DRIVE OR LONG WALK BEFORE WE CALL IT A NIGHT.OR...
Or what, Officer Cutts? Just "hang out" some more?

If it were only a post on a dating site, it might be more evidence (unneeded, really), that Bobby Cutts Jr. is at the very least a player. A charming, good-looking, charismatic man who revels in the attention he gets from women and takes full advantage of it as well, regardless of his attachments.

But there were some deeper details on Mr. Cutts's dating profile that most people might not know to look for.

His main profile pic when you first see the page is this shot of Cutts wearing a towel.

There are three other photos associated with the profile: one of Cutts with an elderly man, perhaps a grandparent; this one, of Cutts with a toddler; and a shot of Officer Cutts flirting with the camera -- or the person taking the photo.

The Firefox Web browser has a feature that can sometimes reveal interesting data about certain Web pages. It tends to only work on static pages, such as those where the Plentyoffish.com photos of Bobby Cutts Jr. are hosted.

On a blank area of the page, you right click and bring up a small menu. At the bottom of the menu, there is an option for "page info." Click the image on the left to see an example.

Selecting "page info" brings up a box that tells you a bit about the page you're looking at. Including the last time that page was "modified." The image on the right is a screen capture of the same page seen above, with the date last modified for that photo of Cutts in uniform -- Wednesday, June 06, 2007 11:14:01 AM.

Frequently, "date modified" means the date the image was first uploaded to the Web.

Bobby Cutts uploaded three images shortly after 11 in the morning on June 6, 2007. They were family-friendly, all of them -- the elderly gentleman, the little kid, the friendly if flirtatious cop.

Bobby Cutts Jr. uploaded one other photo -- 5 days later, on Monday, June 11, 2007, at 9:41:08 AM. This one.

The screen capture with the date modified highlighted is on the left, just click to enlarge.

On June 6, Cutts had an "estranged" wife with two children. He had Nikki Giavasis, and one child by her. Jessie Marie Davis had little Blake, and Chloe was on the way -- in less than a month. Yet Cutts either created or went to his Plentyoffish.com "DALAW150" profile and uploaded three new photos. Then, less than a week later, he added the topless shot. And just two days after the beefcake pic was put online, Jessie Marie Davis vanished, seemingly without a trace.

Those who cannot believe Bobby Cutts Jr. would harm Jessie Davis, or anyone with a defense attorney mindset would either say that it's the Web, you can fake stuff, or they would say that these things are coincidences and do not have any bearing on Jessie's disappearance.

But for me, the timing is everything, here. I have to wonder if plans were conceived on a certain day early in June, and if 5 days later, they were solidified.

And a certain Casanova cop decided it was time to officially go on the prowl, again.

Screen captures of two other photos attached to the DALAW150 profile, with the date modified info included, are embedded in the entry below. Just click on either one to see the full-sized image. If you'd like to see another example of this function, go to my mirror of the MySpace profile of the alleged killer of Kelsey Smith, Edwin Roy Hall. I made the mirror earlier this month, and the last time I did any work on the page, which as a mirror is static html, was June 10, 2007.

UPDATE 1, 12:56 a.m. EDT, 6/23/07

Thanks to bananas for this comment.

What bananas did was prompt me to triple and quadruple check my conclusions above, and conclude that there is something to the dates those photos were "modified." I went through a good number of Plentyoffish.com profiles and photos, checking the same info, and believe the modified info is indeed related to the age of the profile. Google cache records indicate Cutts's profile was online at least as early as June 3, 2007.

But DALAW150 (link broken, early a.m., 6/23/07 -- mirror), is relatively new, regardless. Searching a number of other screen names from profiles on the site, particularly those with lower member numbers (Cutts's is 426656), I found that those who had pages up for some time showed up in a number of Google hits. I also noted that the member numbers appeared to be assigned in some kind of sequence. Profiles sharing these digits with Cutts's -- 4266XX -- all seemed to be made in June or May. Those that had photos had modified dates from June.

If all of this seems overly technical, you just need to know that Bobby Cutts made his DALAW150 profile in the last month or so. No earlier than May of this year.

From that comes the question: Why?

Didn't Mr. Cutts have enough on his plate already, where women were concerned?

UPDATE 2, 11:38 a.m. EDT

Reader and commentator "cloud" did extra work towards preserving the profile that is the subject of this blog entry. Here is a link to "cloud's" comment, and the links therein. Thanks for the heads up!

NOTE: This blog entry helped me understand how "modified" dates are rendered when you "View page info." To cut to the basics -- the modified dates are established by the clock on the server of the host computer. In this instance, the computer that holds the images of Bobby Cutts Jr. for his profile at PlentyofFish.com. That computer, owned by the dating site, stamped the "modified" date on the pages holding the photographs.

Mysteriously Missing: Jessie Davis

NEW ENTRY ABOUT THIS CASE, 6/22/07: "Bobby Cutts Jr., AKA DALAW150."

In order to bring readers to the new entry, I have temporarily removed the comments on this entry. They still exist, and I will add a link to them later.

NOTE, UPDATE, 6/22/07

The date and time of this entry has been changed to place it at the top of the blog for a number of reasons. One is the popularity -- more than 500 comments and counting -- another is I will continue updating it for now, rather than writing a new blog entry.

About the comments -- I have engaged comment moderation. This blog entry (why this entry I don't know -- there are others out there as well as news articles) has attracted the attention of racists whose interest in the story is solely in the fact that Bobby Cutts Jr. was black and Jessie Davis white. I hope my big, white, bald mug has not deceived them. Those comments won't be tolerated, and they will be deleted and the IP of the poster banned. Any comment of an overtly offensive nature, racial or otherwise, will be treated in that manner.

Comment moderation will be removed from time to time, but I'm not telling anyone when that happens. I will re-engage it any time I see fit.

Mine was the first publication, blog or otherwise, to note the connection between Bobby Cutts Jr. and Nikki Giavasis (read below to see what I originally wrote on June 18, 2007). When I was writing the entry I could find no other mention anywhere online of the court records linking their names -- though someone may have noticed at the Court TV message board. I couldn't tell because post times there are strange, appear to be GMT, not U.S. time zones.

It's been interesting since then to see Ms. Giavasis making the rounds of the news networks. I hesitated to note the connection at all, thinking it was probably superfluous. I guess Fox, MSNBC et. al. thought there was something there, after all. No one has had reason to call her on her magically changing birthdates yet.

I have been called by MSNBC to possibly be on-air this afternoon, so stay tuned to the news channel that I have stated in the past is generally my own go-to network for my news fix during the day. If it goes through, it will be between 1 and 3 p.m. EDT. Read on for the original entry and updates from the last two days at the bottom of the entry.

ALSO: If you have a problem with your text wrapping in the comment, simply go back to the bottom of the blog entry and click comments. You will be taken to the actual haloscan comment page and there should be no such trouble there. Haloscan is 3rd party software that is supposed to integrate with blogger, but it may not work that well with this particular template.

ORIGINAL BLOG ENTRY, FIRST PUBLISHED 6/18/07, 4:13 p.m. EDT

Jessie Davis, age 26, is nine months pregnant and she has been missing since June 13, 2007 from her home in Lake Township, Ohio, just north of Canton. Jessie's mother, Patricia Porter, last spoke to Jessie on the 13th.

Porter couldn't reach her daughter all day the following day, so on Friday the 15th she went to Jessie's home. There she found Jessie's toddler son Blake, age 2, in a dirty diaper and the residence in shambles. The contents of Jessie's purse were scattered on the floor and a bottle of bleach had been spilled on the floor.

Some items were missing from the home. Among these were a cover from Jessie's bed and her cell phone.

As has been related in numerous news articles, Blake had some strange and chilling things to say about the time surrounding his mother's disappearance:
Blake told investigators, "Mommy was crying. Mommy broke the table. Mommy's in the rug,"...
Jessie's children, Blake and the child Jessie was carrying, already named Chloe, were fathered by 31-year-old Bobby Cutts Jr., a police officer. Cutts is currently separated from his wife, Kelly Renee Cutts. Both Cutts and his wife have been interviewed by police and are said to be cooperating.

That said, by being the father of the unborn child, patrolman Bobby Cutts Jr. is already behind the 8-ball. The odds and past high-profile news stories (Mark and Lori Hacking come to mind) are against him.

Yet reports indicate that prior to Jessie's disappearance, Bobby Cutts was doing right by his son Blake -- he was said to have been supportive of the child and Jessie Davis both financially and emotionally.

A look at court records for Stark County, Ohio, where Canton and Lake Township are located, gave this result for a Bobby Cutts Jr., age 31. Docket #1998 CRB 02698 shows that in December of 1998, one Bobby L. Cutts Jr., then 21, was charged with aggravated trespassing. Cutts also received a no-contact order to stay away from one Nikki Giavasis.

On December 30 of that year Cutts pleaded no contest. He was fined $100 and told to pay court costs as well. A payment of $180 was tendered on January 30, 1999.

Only two men named Bobby Cutts show up in those Stark County court records, one of them born in 1956.

If this is the same Bobby Cutts, living in the same county and the same age as the man who fathered both Jessie Davis's son and her unborn child, his having pleaded no contest once to a trespassing charge as well as being subject to a no-contact order is interesting.

That he dated a woman named Nikki Giavasis is also of interest, but not necessarily related to this overall story.

This is Nikki Giavasis from Canton, Ohio.

Here's a Google search on her name: "Nikki Giavasis." Nikki Georgette Giavasis has an IMDB listing as well, showing that she's been showing up on television for a while in her capacity as an actress, singer, bikini model and performer. In other Stark County court records Giavasis's birthdate is given as March 13, 1977, even though various webpages indicate she has given 1980 and 1984 as birth years. If Giavasis was actually born in '77, then she is almost exactly the same age as Bobby Cutts -- otherwise, she would have been either 14 or 18 when she was party to the trespassing charge filed against Bobby Cutts Jr.

Bobby Cutts Jr. possibly having a semi-famous ex like Nikki Giavasis is intriguing, but not necessarily related to the disappearance of Jessie Marie Davis. Unless Nikki Giavasis has something to say about the man who once was told by the court to have no contact with her.

Anything could have happened to Jessie Davis, at this point. Including an attack from a baby-snatcher -- a woman who saw the nearly full-term pregnancy as an opportunity to suddenly have a child of her own without the bothersome 9-month waiting period. Whatever happened to Jessie, it's looking like it was anything but good. And the only witness was her son, who knows that mommy was "in the rug."

Any updates to this entry will, as always, be added below.

UPDATE 1, 5:24 p.m. EDT

Thanks to SuziQ for this comment. SuziQ pointed to an article published May 21, 2003 by the Canton (OH) Repository: "Fired officer acquitted in gun dispute."

The officer was Bobby Cutts Jr. He'd been accused of giving a gun to his cousin, a convicted felon. On top of that, Cutts was accused of lying about the gun in court. Cutts was completely cleared of all charges, as the article indicated. He'd been out of his job for a while at the time, so it appears that he was able to get it back.

What was interesting to me about the piece was that it confirmed that the Bobby Cutts Jr. who was mentioned in relation to Nikki Giavasis in the original entry above was indeed the same man. This is the court record showing Giavasis's 1998 no contact order against Cutts as well as an aggravated trespassing charge against him. Cutts's birthdate: 5/21/1977. The article published 5/21/2003 began: "Bobby L. Cutts Jr. is one year older today and much closer to reclaiming his career as a police officer.

"The fired patrol officer got an early 26th birthday present Tuesday when he was acquitted of allegations he gave a gun to his cousin, a convicted felon, and later lied about it in court."

So, unless there is a Bobby Cutts Jr. with the exact same birth year and day in Stark County, Ohio, then the man who was seeing Jessie Davis and the father of her children was the man in the court records from 1997 accused of trespassing.

UPDATE 2, 7:44 p.m. EDT, 6/20/07

Bobby Cutts Jr. has been named a suspect in the disappearance of Jessie Davis. A comment below reported this development. The source publication linked has numerous articles of questionable accuracy, but the same could be said for many blogs. Apparently CSI and the FBI are investigating, and it doesn't look good for Mr. Cutts. Readers can monitor this page to see if any new dockets with Bobby Cutts's name on them appear anytime soon.

UPDATE 3, 4:27 p.m. EDT, 6/22/2007

The abandoned child found at a several miles from where Jessie Davis disappeared is not connected to the case, according to the AP. Quote:
A baby found on an Ohio doorstep does not belong to a missing pregnant woman, Wayne County Sheriff Thomas Maurer said Friday.

The baby was left outside a home about 45 miles from where Jessie Davis lived...
Additionally -- if you make a comment and reference what I have actually written in this blog entry, be sure you know what you're doing. Don't confuse comments left by others with my own post, please.

I said in a note at the top of this entry that I was surprised at how the media has run with the connection between actress/model/singer Nikki Giavasis and Bobby Cutts Jr. Some people seem to have interpreted my mentioning her at all as supporting her claims of past abuse by Bobby. I don't know anything about those past what was in online court records.

Nikki did also have charges filed against her at one point, just two years ago:

#2005 CRA 03490 Interference with custody.

The case was called a "no bill" in January, 2006, and dismissed.

Too many sketchy comments will see them shut off for this entry.

Open Thread Tuesday: The Vaughn Family

(For an explanation of why you are seeing this blog and how to find entries you are looking for, read this. And no, I have not been able to transfer your comments from CrimeBlog.US. ~ Steve Huff, Ed.)

The original entry about the murders of the Vaughn children and suicide or murder (depending on your p.o.v.) of Kimberly Vaughn has been re-posted here, and the comments are open.

However, this "open thread" is being posted here by popular request, as the first entry about the Vaughn family has been very popular and subject to a tremendous amount of discussion.

An open thread entry is purposely devoid of new info on the case in question. I sometimes become irritated if people refer to leaving a comment on a blog entry as blogging -- it is not. However, open threads provide an opportunity for readers to really provide the content for the blog entry, so I guess this is truly where you can blogment away, and I'm just providing the space, as long as it remains.

Please keep your comments on-topic, civil, and sane. Anything else will be deleted.

This is beyond old... up-time problems with CrimeBlog.US

The hosting service I use for CrimeBlog.US, www.bluehost.com, has a pretty good reputation as a web host, so I am sometimes torn as to whether I should be mad at myself for any problems with CrimeBlog.US being off-line or be irritated with BlueHost. I suspect the blame may be equal. I have scripts on my site that may not work well, and BlueHost doesn't have an affordable package for a site as popular as mine and they don't care to tell me my site is too popular, they simply let the site crash, pop up that ugly-ass CPU limit exceeded page and say 'deal with it.'

A lot of people believe it isn't good common sense to go from a standalone URL with name branding to something like a blogspot blog -- that it is a step backwards.

I'm starting to disagree. For one thing, when blogspot goes down, the whole thing goes down. Not just my blog, but every blog on the Web with a blogspot.com address. Frankly, I like this better than just my site being unavailable. For another, a blogspot address can handle a ton of web traffic that most hosting packages cannot deal with. For yet another, a blogspot blog is free to own and maintain.

There are limitations here, too -- fiddling with your blog's appearance isn't as easy as it is in Wordpress. I don't think the overall look of a blogspot blog will ever be as esthetically appealing. Workplaces block blogspot addresses and they don't block a standalone weblog.

But I've just about had it with the outages on my most popular weblog, and I need to do something about it. I am angry whenever I can't reach it properly, and I am angry when readers are unable to access CrimeBlog.US. I am sick and tired of the frustration, and the drain on my time. Blogging was simple when I started, over 6 years ago, using a pseudonym on a different blog host entirely. I miss that simplicity a great deal.

So, anyway, you are seeing this message because of repeated outages at CrimeBlog.US, and what I have written above is an invitation for suggestions as to what you think I should do. I'm wide-open.

To find and comment on entries you've been reading for the last several days, just scroll down. I will be porting those over this afternoon, and they should be identical to the entries you were reading at CrimeBlog.US.

Haines Family Murders: Motivation?

Murder victim Kevin Haines may have wanted to come out of the closet to his parents, Tom and Lisa. How long Kevin was aware of his sexuality is not known, but many of the homosexuals I've known said they knew they were "different" as early as 1st grade. Kevin had relationships with other teens in the past that were sexual, but he lived in a conservative community, so this was a deeply held secret. Besides, few gay people would say that coming out was easy. It is a process, and a deeply emotional one at that.

Kevin's coming out would have made it evident that Alec Kreider was his significant other.

Alec Kreider, because of self-loathing, homophobia, or a combination of these things, didn't want this to happen.

Kreider allegedly told his father that he first planned to smother Kevin Haines. He planned a "soft kill," the kind of assault usually committed by someone who may have once cared about the victim. Why did Alec then escalate? Smothering the young man who planned to reveal your own secret life was one thing, stabbing Kevin and his parents another. This is speculation, but could it be that Kevin Haines had already told his parents? If he did, then Alec may have gone into a kind of panic and decided to kill everyone.

Alec and at least one other friend of Kevin's loved firearms and had even been part of Manheim Township's rifle team. While none of these boys were the jock-y type, dealing with firearms, combat games and the like put them into "hyper-masculine" situations, and to one degree or another, Alec Kreider in particular may have valued this and been very uncomfortable with the nature of his friendship with Kevin Haines.

The Haines murders were not precisely "gay rage," but they were close.

I've been sitting on this information for some time. I wanted to take care with it because to some, it could be considered explosive, therefore controversial. There is no easy way to tell a story of repressed teen homosexuality playing into a triple homicide.

If this information as to Kreider's possible motivations is as accurate as I believe it to be, then it may also explain police secrecy where certain aspects of this investigation are concerned.

Still, it is beginning to look like Kevin Haines was ready to take a courageous step into living his life with honesty and openness. For this, he was allegedly murdered by the one person whom he may have most wanted to take that step with him.

Timothy Cox: The Son of "G.O.D."

(This entry was written by True Crime Blog UK, where it was first posted.)

In March 2006, paedophile chatroom "Kiddypics & Kiddyvids" was closed down following an investigation initiated by Canadian Police known as Operation Wickerman. The host of the site, a 49-year-old from Tennessee identified as Royal Raymond Weller, had gone by the username "G.O.D." (see the US Department of Justice press release about the case and a Huff Crime Blog entry entitled The Day of Many Molesters).

Timothy CoxWith the closure of the "Kiddypics & Kiddyvids" site, 27-year-old Tim Cox (full name Timothy David Martyn Cox) spotted a gap in the market for those intent on the sexual exploitation of children. From the large farmhouse in Buxhall, Suffolk, he shared with his parents and sister, Cox started the chatroom "Kids The Light Of Our Lives". With reference to the chatroom host he sought to emulate, he chose the username "Son_of_God".

Cox spent hours each day in his bedroom orchestrating the site when he wasn't working for his family's micro-brewery. The site allowed like-minded paedophiles to share images and videos of child sex abuse, and plans for abusing victims ranging from the age of babies to young teens. Soon the site had attracted more than 700 users from all over the world, 200 of them in the UK. Cox used the name "I_Do_It" when trading images, some of which were shocking pictures of children being subjected to sadistic abuse.

In August 2006, Canadian members of the Virtual Global Taskforce passed intelligence about Cox's network to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, who carried out a period of covert surveillance. Police arrested Cox on 28th September 2006 while he was away from his PC, allowing them to spend 10 days posing as him online in order to gather further information about the site's users and the children they were abusing. Meanwhile, they found 75,960 indecent images of children on Cox's computer, and evidence he had supplied 11,491 images to other site users.

Following Cox's removal as host and the closure of the site, 33-year-old Gordon Mackintosh from Hertfordshire, who went by the usernames "silentblackheart" and "lust4skoolgurls", tried to have the room reinstated and was arrested on 9th January 2007. On his PC were 5,167 indecent images of children and 392 indecent movie files.

Worldwide, the investigation into the users of "Kids The Light Of Our Lives" has led to the rescue of 31 children from abuse or positions of harm.

Cox admitted 9 charges relating to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children and has been handed an indeterminate sentence, meaning he will not be released if he's judged to be a danger to the public, and could potentially spend the rest of his life behind bars. Gordon Mackintosh pled guilty to 27 charges relating to making, possessing and distributing indecent images and is due to be sentenced on 29th June 2007.

Jim Gamble, CEO of the CEOP Centre, said:
"Today's verdict serves as a powerful warning to those using the internet to facilitate the sexual exploitation of children.

Any individual who thinks they carry out such horrific activities undetected is in for a very rude awakening. The belief that the internet provides anonymity is unfounded and for Cox and Mackintosh it has already proved to be a costly misconception."
Another user of "Kids The Light Of Our Lives" was former schoolteacher Graham Conridge, who I wrote about in the post Graham Conridge: Scaling the Depths. Further charges against other users are likely to follow in due course.

Hats off to the police, the CEOP Centre and the Virtual Global Taskforce, especially the Canadian partners who set the ball rolling towards the smashing of this despicable paedophile ring.
